FOPS in Cyprus

19th April 2015

Derek the FOPS webmaster (post prostate cancer) now lives in Cyprus and supports a local cancer association through which he has publicised the FOPS and made it known that he is always there for support if anyone needs to discuss their prostate cancer issues.

So the FOPS reach extends to SUNNY CYPRUS where as you have no doubt heard: the banks have been/are in trouble, property prices are going down and all kinds of problems exist - in fact who would want to live in Cyprus now?!!!.

WELL - Needless to say us Brits (and other non Cypriots) have to make the best of it, what with all this sunshine and the fabulous social life that we just have to create to get by in these troubled times.

Derek formed a group called Kamares Entertainments (Kamares is a village above Paphos near where he lives in Tala) a while ago to put on entertainment events for the local community and raise money for the charity at some of our functions.

For example we had a "Caribbean Boogie" Night at the local Kamares Club so Derek thought he would put a few piccies below to show what a bad time we are having. Derek also has a part share, with a close friend of his, in a rescue dog called Timi (Timi was rescued in a village called Timi near Paphos airport) so Timi is also featured just after he was rescued

Feel free to call (00357) 99078018 if you are ever out this way or email derekincyprus@gmail.com

Photos: Derek & Maggie his right hand lady plus other revellers - Brits and Russians, and "Timi" soon after he was rescued - "doggie bag"? ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Our Aims

The FOPS greatest accomplishment is that, working together, we have helped, and will keep on helping, men affected by Prostate Cancer (also known as 'Tiger Cancer') turn themselves away from their personal precipices and get their lives back together. Learn more...

Personal Stories

Uplifting Stories On the 21st and 23rd of December Dennis, a local popular garage owner, was told at Watford General hospital he had a PSA of 112 and then on retest 119. This blew his mind and in his words gave him 'high anxiety stress' which led him to contact the FOPS on Christmas Eve. Dennis talked to several FOPS... Read more...
